Apprenticeships at Mott MacDonald

Mott Macdonald are a global engineering, management and development consulting firm focused on guiding their clients through many of the world’s most intricate challenges.

Sarah Seagar, School Engagement Coordinator and Norran Alabd, Early Careers Industrial Trainee, gave a comprehensive insight into the different careers and the pathways into Mott Macdonald. As an organisation they are keen to develop their own workforce, by offering the training from Level 3 onto degree level.  However, they are also keen to take on graduates onto the graduate entry programme.

Mott Macdonald offer both level 3 entry apprenticeship programmes and degree level programmes in the following career areas: civil engineering, building services engineering, transport planning, business administration and infrastructure technology.  Students can start on a Level 3 programme and progress onto the degree programme or they can apply when they have completed their Level 3 studies and go directly onto a degree programme.

Sarah and Norran explained how students can join on one of their level 3 programmes if they are keen to get into engineering even if they have not chosen the ideal subjects at A level. Level 3 entry would give them the opportunity to complete the Level 3 BTEC in construction and the built environment which would then give them the entry level onto the HNC/Degree programme.

At the end of the presentation Sarah introduced the opportunity to apply to Mott Macdonald for a work experience placement. Students can apply directly to obtain some work experience at the organisation.

The feedback following the talk was exceptionally positive and a number of the students are keen to get some work experience with the organisation. This clearly demonstrates by offering students an enriched Careers Education Programme they will be able to make informed choices as to which pathway they will choose.
